Licensing Overview

BitForge is dual-licensed. You may use it under either of the following licenses — choose the one that fits your use case:

1. GNU GPL-3.0 (open source), or
2. Commercial License — described below.

1. Open Source — GPL-3.0

The project is distributed under the full text of the GNU General Public License v3.0, included as the LICENSE file in the repository.

Under GPL-3.0 you are free to use, study, modify, and distribute this software — including for commercial purposes — provided you comply with the license. The key obligations of GPL-3.0 are:

• If you distribute the software or a derivative work, you must make the complete corresponding source code available under GPL-3.0.
• Derivative works you distribute must be licensed under GPL-3.0 as a whole.

GPL-3.0 does not prohibit commercial use. It only requires that derivative works you distribute remain open under the same license.

2. Commercial License (for closed-source / proprietary use)

The GPL-3.0 copyleft obligations are not suitable for every organization. If you want to use BitForge in a closed-source product or proprietary tooling without releasing your source code under GPL-3.0, a separate commercial license is available.

The commercial license grants the same software under terms that do not require you to open-source your work, plus:

• A commercial-friendly license (MIT-style terms) for your organization.
• Access to a private repository with packaged releases and updates.
• Priority handling of issues and feature requests.

How to obtain a commercial license

The commercial license is offered through GitHub Sponsors:

1. Sponsor the project at the appropriate tier: github.com/sponsors/DraviaVemal
2. Active sponsors are granted access to the private commercial repository and the commercial license terms.
